Uni-Lift Prostate Intervention Device
The Uni-Lift allows comfortable patient positioning for MR-guided interventions of the prostate. The Uni-Lift device uses the same, well-established grid technology, that we have invented 20 years ago and is now a worldwide adapted standard for breast biopsy. Thus the Uni-Lift allows performing biopsies and focal therapies in cooperation with the latest diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging systems.
The MR-guided intervention allows for improved, prior unreached, high spatial resolution of the prostates’ anatomy. Lesion can be precisely targeted for biopsy and therapy. The transperineal access to the prostate is a well-established method in urology and has the advantage of lesser risk of secondary infections when compared to the transrectal approach.
The Uni-Lift device might also be used for therapy of the prostate: for example to use crypablation. The high spatial resolution of the MRI system allows the well-defined control of the therapeutic area.
The examination is usually done under general anesthesia. The supine patient position allows excellent access for the performing physician towards the prostate in the MRI system.
